Gondola Vista Interiors are nothing like Old Tahoe

If you’ve stayed at a friend’s Lake Tahoe cabin, or VRBO’d or Air BnB’d a place at the Lake, you know that the property quality can vary dramatically. Some places are comfortably appointed, with “Ok” interior features and amenities. And others are, well, let’s just say they fall within the rustic category (and that’s not meant as a compliment).

It was this lackluster interior appeal pervading much of Tahoe real estate that Transcend Interiors wanted to overcome in outfitting the ground-breaking new Gondola Vista homes.

There are only 20 of these special homes being built at South Lake Tahoe. If you’re familiar with the restrictions surrounding this Eighth Wonder of the World, you’ll know that the moratorium on new construction within the Tahoe basin is real. New construction just doesn’t happen. But Gondola Vista is exceptional in that respect. Regulators have permitted these 20 new homes to be built. And unlike many communities that claim Tahoe as their backyard, Gondola Vista properties are all within walking distance of the city of South Lake Tahoe, two Lake Tahoe beaches, and Edgewood Golf Course.

What’s included on the inside reflects the rare nature of this singular development.

For example, the flooring. Transcend Interiors has specified reclaimed hardwood in the Great Rooms of these two and three-story homes. The fact that this wood has had a different life in another part of the world lends itself to the distinction of Gondola Vista, not to mention the environmental sensibility that reclaimed wood says about the builder’s thoughtful approach.

Stepping into the bathroom on a cool Tahoe morning won’t be an unwelcome surprise, either, as the tile floors within each of the 3.5 baths are gently heated. Your toes will sigh with joy each morning, regardless of the temperature.

Nature pops up in a number of pleasing features found throughout these dwellings. Custom alder kitchen cabinets, sandstone wall coverings, glass mosaic backsplashes, surf rock glass accent walls, marble flooring in key areas, and stone exteriors all remind you that these new Lake Tahoe homes reside peacefully within their tree-shrouded environment.

Kohler, Hansgrohe, and Jenn-Air are the brands proudly displayed by the waterworks, cooking equipment, and refrigeration appliances.

The homes can be furnished if desired, too. Furnishings are characterized as mountain modern, with elegant lines and interesting mixtures of materials. The overall effect is comfortable while pleasingly provocative.
