Tastemakers 2016: Rustic Bakery

Rustic Bakery customers always seem to have a favorite dish that they insist is the best item on the menu. For some it’s the salads or the warm sandwiches off the grill. Others swear by Rustic Bakery’s delicious steal-cut oatmeal. I’m personally a fan of the soups. But with a menu of fresh baked breads and pastries, an array of breakfast items, hot and cold sandwiches, soups, a wide selection of salads, hot coffee and tea, wine and beer and a children’s menu, it’s clear why everyone seems to have a favorite!

Photo Notes:

The first round of photos at Rustic Bakery were taken primarily inside where there was the usual long line of customers streaming in from outside. Chef Nicolas Abrams not only made the beautiful salad that I photographed, but he graciously acted as a hand model (at my request). When he comes out from his kitchen, it’s always fun to see the customers swarm to him with questions and compliments, and he handles it like the pro he is. The second round of photos were taken outside, away from the crowd. This time with my oldest daughter Nicolette acting as the hand model (she’s a huge fan of Rustic Bakery, so getting her to join me took little effort on my part!). The best part was that her outfit just happened to coordinate perfectly with the beautiful, deep colors of Chef Nicolas’ salad.
