Artful Gift Giving

This Saturday and Sunday, December 6 & 7 –– over 100 artists open their studios in Sausalito for the 46th annual ICB Winter Open Studio event.  This highly anticipated weekend is one of the best art events in the county and a great opportunity to shop for gifts that keep on giving.

Hundreds of artists – all under one roof – invite the public to cross over their creative thresholds and get up close and personal with their art and craft, sip some wine and grab a holiday cookie. It is a wonderfully festive event and a terrific opportunity to mix and mingle, meet the artists, marvel at their work space and creativity and simply savor the talent and creativity housed along the waterfront in Sausalito. No wonder Sausalito is renowned as an artist’s colony and center for the arts.

While you’re there, don’t miss Gallery 111 which is on the first level of the ICB building. You’ll find an amazing special exhibit of masks that have been handmade by local artists.

The ICB Winter Open Studio event always launches the holiday season for me – it’s one of my favorite art events all year and will hopefully banish any Bah Humbug that may be lingering within you. The biggest risk of course is that you will end up with an armful of art that you want to keep instead of give!

ICB stands for the Industrial Center Building where the studios are located; it’s on Gate Five Road just past Mollie Stone’s Market. The studios will be open 11 AM – 6 PM both days.
