Sausalito Book Passage By-the-Bay Opening

At long last, Sausalito will have a book store again! Book Passage — the venerable independent bookstore of Corte Madera and San Francisco Ferry Building fame — has secured a waterfront location in Sausalito and will celebrate its Grand Opening this Saturday, February 4, 4–6 p.m.

Perched on the scenic Sausalito Yacht Harbor Marina at 100 Bay Street in the heart of downtown Sausalito, the new store will boast a nautical book section as a nod to its maritime heritage, but also all the other books one has come to expect from the other Book Passage enterprises — fiction, non-fiction, cookbooks, children’s books, local travel and history, your favorite local authors.

In addition to books, there will also be a small selection of merchandise, including gourmet picnic supplies and California wines and craft beers by the bottle “to-go”. The Sausalito store will also host author events, classes and other special programs for which Book Passage is so well known.

The new shop is conveniently located a block from the ferry landing, close to ample public parking, with a dozen free parking spaces in front of the store to facilitate quick trips. The Grand Opening this Saturday will include music, food and wine, local authors and lots of good books. All are invited to join in this celebration of community.

Kudos to Elaine & Bill Petrocelli who started their first Book Passage 40 years ago. They have proven once again that independent bookstores are alive and well despite this age of Amazon and digital reading.

Store hours will be 10:30 a.m.–6:00 p.m. daily. Phone: 415.339.1300.
