Much Ado About Something

BACKGROUND

Founded in 1989 Marin Shakespeare Company is celebrating its 25th anniversary. Recently receiving an anonymous donation of one million dollars, it’s here for the long term. MSC offers weekly performances during the summer season, classes for students as young as five up to adults and several community-based outreach programs. One of the shows in Marin Shakespeare Company's current season is Romeo and Juliet, a true Shakespeare classic.

VIBE

Easy theater; parking is free, plentiful and close to the venue, easily accessible box office to check in for tickets and seat cushions to rent for $1.00. Guests can purchase a selection of West End Café sandwiches and gourmet salads, desserts, snacks and drinks, or you are encouraged to bring your own picnic to enjoy on the grounds. Once the sun sets behind Mount Tamalpais, the show starts promptly at 8:00 p.m. The acting is delightful, and the costumes and sets are well executed, winning several awards from Bay Area Critics Circle; lighting and sound is good from any seat. At some points during the play, the actors engage the front row a bit – giving Shakespeare an approachable interpretation. It's a perfect way to spend a unique evening in Marin under the stars, enjoying the best the Bard has to offer with a lively performance of Romeo and Juliet

HIGHLIGHT

From the parking, to the picnic dinner, to the actors, open air theater and sense of community – it was all easy and fun. Grab a friend or two and enjoy our own little gem right here in Marin – no need to travel to Ashland, Oregon for a fine Shakespearean production.
