Robin Williams' Birthday Celebration – You’re Invited!

Hard to believe it’s been a year since we all learned of Robin Williams’ passing. Here at the Marin Magazine we struggled with ways to honor him and show our appreciation for his craft. In last year’s Mill Valley Film Guide we dedicated the entire issue to his memory featuring a handsome shot of him mugging for the camera near the ocean. We also joined a video tribute that ended up airing on local news stations (see below). And finally in the upcoming August issue, writer Jennifer Welksner penned a love letter to him from all of us her in Marin.

To celebrate his birthday, 142 Throckmorton will be hosting a special edition of the Throckmorton Theatre’s Tuesday Night Live Comedy:

“For over 10 years of our weekly, acclaimed Tuesday Night Comedy event, we were honored with the extraordinary gift of Robin showing up backstage, onstage, in the audience,” says theater owner, Lucy Mercer. “His smile lighting up the greenroom, his recognizable laugh roaring out to the delight of the comedians who had just discovered they would be “opening” for him that night.  These moments continue to deeply inspire us in our creative endeavors.  Tonight, we will celebrate and honor Robin’s birthday with a showcase of comedy, music, pranks, and storytelling from performers who knew him.”
