11th Annual California Artisan Cheese Festival

In 2017 there are many diets to contend with: pescatarian, vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, paleo and countless others. Bread is great and all, but the saddest loss, in my opinion, would be going dairy free. Maybe that’s because I’ve unwillingly lived that life already. As a child I couldn’t eat dairy and would break out in itchy rashes anytime I snuck a chocolate bar — dead giveaway. So my life was filled with, a. rashes, and b. chalky-sorry-excuse-for-milk. However, my pediatrician advised my parents that if I was slowly introduced to dairy I’d get over this intolerance. I did and I haven’t looked back. Ask me if I want some Cowgirl Creamery Red Hawk any time of day and you’ll get a resounding, “YES.” Pizza, natch.

So if you, too, love cheese come and enjoy the bounty of cheese our region offers this weekend. Taking place in and around the Sheraton Sonoma County in Petaluma, as well as at farms all over Northern California, the 11th annual California Artisan Cheese Festival helps raise money to support farmers and cheesemakers all over the state. There are many new elements to the Festival this year including educational seminars included in every Friday Farm Tours; Friday night's Ultimate Best Bite will feature local chefs, cheesemakers and cheesemongers all competing against each other in a delicious walk around tasting event; and there is also going to be a festive Cheese and Cocktail Celebration under the Big Top at the Sheraton Sonoma County on Saturday evening featuring local cheese and spirit producers! For those not attending the Cheese and Cocktail Celebration, there will be two Cheesemaker Dinners on Saturday night.  As always, the Sunday Bubbles & Brunch followed by the amazing Marketplace will be the weekend’s grand finale, where guests may taste and purchase all of the featured cheeses of the weekend, as well as try ciders, wine, beer and other tasty artisan products all from around Northern California.

If You Go:

When: Friday, Mar 24, 2017 to Mar 26, 2017
09:00 AM until 09:00 PM
Where: Sheraton Sonoma County
745 Baywood Drive
Petaluma, CA
