Second Fridays Artwalk

Walking and other physical activity is undisputedly good for you. Taking in art and socializing with your community, the same, natch. So why not be efficient and do both at once? This Friday affords you just that opportunity. In fact, you can discover art, drink wine — heart healthy! — and enjoy entertainment every second Friday of the month on Fourth Street in downtown San Rafael. This week’s events are set to include a collage & wine workshop and the reception for Asleep in the Tanning Bed at Art Works Downtown. The exhibit features the sculptural and conceptual artwork of artist Nathan Lynch and the intimate drawings of artist Em Meine. Marin Society of Artists will be presenting Atmospheric Wonders, imaginative imagery in relation to the earth or the sky that evokes a sense of wonder, mystery or nostalgia while Youth in Arts will be showing Rising Stars, over 150 two- and three-dimensional works by students at 15 schools. This is only a small glimpse at all the ongoings — for the whole picture, come check it out firsthand.

Kasia Pawlowska

Kasia Pawlowska loves words. A native of Poland, Kasia moved to the States when she was seven. The San Francisco State University creative writing graduate went on to write for publications like the San Francisco Bay Guardian and KQED Arts among others prior to joining the Marin Magazine staff. Topics Kasia has covered include travel, trends, mushroom hunting, an award-winning series on social media addiction and loads of other random things. When she’s not busy blogging or researching and writing articles, she’s either at home writing postcards and reading or going to shows. Recently, Kasia has been trying to branch out and diversify, ie: use different emojis. Her quest for the perfect chip is never-ending.
