Battle of the Chefs in Sausalito to Raise Funds for Scholarships

On Saturday, May 21, two local chefs will duke it out on stage at the IDESST Hall in Sausalito to raise funds for the Sausalito Woman’s Club Scholarship Recognition Fund.

Sean Saylor of Saylor’s Restaurant & Bar in Sausalito and Todd Davies of Hilltop 1892 in Novato will be vying for votes from a panel of celebrity judges. Both chefs will be challenged to incorporate a secret ingredient they’ve been given into a three-course meal.

Both restaurants top mixologists –– Guillermo Moran of Sayor’s and Adonna Bellefeuille of Hilltop 1892 –– will whip up their favorite cocktail which will also to be judged by the celebrity panel. Judges are Jeff Burkhart, Marin IJ “Barfly” columnist and author, Dave Keegin of Wildfox Restaurant, Jason Purcell of Farmshop in Larkspur, and TV personality Kevin Blum of Yelp!

The Sausalito Woman’s Club (SWC) Scholarship program was founded in 1956; sixty years later the club is proud to say that over this time frame, they have raised almost $1 million dollars in scholarship funding for graduating high school, continuing college and graduate students, as well as vocational, technical and art students – all of whom are residents of Sausalito and Marin City. This year they are rewarding a record $65,000 in scholarships to 37 local students for the upcoming 2016-2107 school-year.

The scholarship fundraiser which promises to be an entertaining evening is $75 per person which includes sumptuous hors d’oeuvres and desserts; no host wine and cocktails will be available as well.
