Slip away from the world at Ventana Big Sur

Located at the intersection of the Pacific Ocean and the Santa Lucia Mountains, equal parts American legend and natural wonder, Big Sur is one of the most magical places on Earth. Some say the best part of visiting is the option to do nothing at all, while others come to expand their horizons through adventure, art, nature and culture.

At the re-imagined Ventana Big Sur, an Alila Resort, whatever shape your journey takes, it — and you — will become a part of this iconic region’s rich and storied history.

Everything here is designed to help you discover, relax and (dis)connect, to help you find the fuel that feeds your soul. And just like this spectacular landscape, Ventana Big Sur evokes a sense of awe and wonder as well.

With 59 rooms and suites arranged among 160 acres of towering redwoods, the sea crashing below, you’ll experience the utmost in privacy and serenity. Ease yourself into one of our hammocks, chaise lounges or fireside sofas. Enjoy a soak in your hot tub. Marvel at the views from your private balcony or patio.

Venture beyond your room, and you’ll soon find that the opportunities for discovery at Ventana are as vast as the sky overhead.

Activities and adventure

Social House, the “living room” of Ventana, is a hub to connect, schedule activities and experience the feeling of community here. With three unique lifestyle spaces — including a Library & Music Room, Game Room and Bar Room — this is a place to wind down or ramp up.

If you’re the adventurous type, you can fill your day with activities and exploration, such as daily morning yoga and guided hikes around our magnificent property. To expand your artistic boundaries, the Alila Experience Program’s unique and enriching workshops range from art and photography instruction to meditation and drum circles. And for those who seek inspiration in the art of others, the Glass House Gallery offers a taste of Big Sur culture and creativity.

Relaxation and rejuvenation

Perhaps a slower pace is more your style — Ventana’s two heated outdoor pools, and our Japanese hot baths, provide a distinctly relaxing Big Sur experience. The Meadow Pool features an infinity-edge hot tub and shaded trellis, while the clothing-optional Mountain Pool creates a feeling of unbridled freedom.

A visit to Spa Alila will enhance your journey of rejuvenation, guiding you through a sensory experience encouraging inner peace and connection. With treatments rooted in both ancient and traditional methods from around the world, your time here will create a profound sense of well-being — one that takes hold deep in your soul.

The ideal finish to any day in Big Sur is dinner at The Sur House, our signature restaurant featuring seafood from local fishermen, free-range meats from local farmers, produce from nearby foragers and homemade accoutrements. They all blend perfectly in dishes inspired by the sustainable ingredients of California’s Central Coast and the melting pot of America’s culinary havens.

Ventana, like Big Sur itself, is what you make it. It’s all up to you — and it’s all here for you.
