Nicole Dreon
On May 20, hear from ESPN’s Nicole Dreon, a lively, fun and entertaining traveler who makes a living by photographing and writing about awesome people and athletic pursuits. With Dreon’s visually rich and inspiring talk, “The Spirit of Adventure,” Tahoe Trips and Trails begins a new event series at The Cedar House Sport Hotel that benefits local nonprofit organizations that share the sustainable ethos evident in the design, feel and culture of The Cedar House.
On June 17, a panel of hikers including those who have completed the ‘holy trinity’ of long distance U.S. treks –– the Appalachian Trail, Pacific Crest Trail, Continental Divide –– will share stories and answer questions during “The Mind, Heart and Soles of Thru-hikers.” On July 22, discover how you can really lighten your pack from the founder of Gossamer Gear, Glen Van Peski.
Tickets to each event are only $20. Proceeds benefit Adventure Risk Challenge and the Pacific Crest Trail Association.

Truckee Brew Fest
Tastings of more than three-dozen breweries will be featured along with brats and hotdogs at the Truckee Regional Park on June 14. Tickets are available at Autoglass Express Truckee, Coffee Bar, Dickson Realty and Tuff Beanz.
Tahoe City Solstice Festival
The Solstice Festival, June 19-22, may just be the best place to celebrate Father’s Day at the Lake. The heart of Tahoe City will be lined classic autos and collector cars on June 20. Vote for your favorite car during the early evening Solstice Stroll Classic Car Show (free), and on June 21, pack a picnic and kick back at Concerts at Commons Beach (also free). The Solstice Festival winds down as two summer events kick into high gear: Adventure Sports Week, June 20-29, includes a variety of competitive events including trail running, mountain biking, triathlon and stand up paddle board races and the Alpenglow Mountain Festival, June 21-29, features a variety of guided hikes, demos and informative sessions.
