Altered Book Exhibit

The book becomes art at MarinMOCA’s 10th Annual Altered Book Exhibit and Fundraiser, presented by Bank of Marin. MarinMOCA’s most popular art show features 180 original book art objects, crafted by artists who combine compelling messages with creative technique. Donna Seager, owner of Seager Gray Gallery in Mill Valley, and Mary Austin, co-founder of the San Francisco Center for the Book, will select the award-winners. The Altered Books are sought by book art aficionados, who return year after year to see the show. The public is invited to view and bid on their favorite works during the silent auction from April 27 to June 1. The closing party and live auction will be held on June 1, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., when all the book art objects will be auctioned to the highest bidder. The exhibit is free to the public.

DocLands Documentary Film Festival

Presented by the California Film Institute, DocLands Documentary Film Festival brings compelling stories and the provocative insights behind them to Marin County, from May 2 to May 5. DocLands is a non-competitive, non-juried, inclusive festival that presents an overall Audience Choice award. Through public screenings, engaged conversations and grassroots networking events, DocLands aims to build an active, involved and fully supportive community around documentary film.

Guests, their friends and family are invited to join The New Wheel for a breakfast of made-from-scratch griddle cakes and locally roasted coffee from Equator Coffee & Tea. Breakfast is free with admission to the event and served from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. all weekend while supplies last.
