A two-part exhibition spanning six decades and two galleries will survey California’s seminal art movements from 1945 to the present. Featuring abstract and figurative works by well-known artists including Richard Diebenkorn, Sam Francis, Ed Moses, Manuel Neri, Ed Ruscha, and Wayne Thiebaud, California: North and South examines the distinct contributions to the visual arts made by artists in both regions. Grouped thematically, the more than 50 paintings, sculpture, and works on paper on view compare and contrast leading abstract, figurative, and early conceptual styles, which emerged in Northern and Southern California during the post-war period.
