Karma – A Musical Tribute to Pharoah Sanders is inspired by the uplifting and healing music from legendary saxophonist Pharoah Sanders’ Impulse! period (1966-1973) and Theresa Records period (early-to-mid ‘80s).

The performance will feature pieces from a number of Sanders’ epic recordings from Impulse!, including “The Creator Has a Master Plan” (Karma), “Thembi” (Thembi), “Astral Traveling” (Thembi) and “The Healing Song” (Live at the East). and from Theresa Records, including “Sun Song” (Shukuru), “Farah” (Rejoice) and “You’ve Got to Have Freedom” (Journey to the One). A new kalimba (East African Thumb piano) piece has been composed in Pharoah’s honor, along with a duet for balafon (African marimba) and drum set.

This is going to be an evening of music that uplifts the heart and soul. Join us at the Throckmorton Theatre to celebrate the music of Pharoah Sanders!
