Announcing Mill Valley Philharmonic’s Next Concert Series Featuring Tchaikovsky’s Symphony #5!
Dana Sadava, one of the orchestra’s three candidates for a new permanent Artistic Director/Conductor, will lead Mill Valley Philharmonic (MVP) in its second program of the season starting with an Open Dress Rehearsal on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at 7:00 PM, followed by Concerts on Friday, March 15 at 8:00 PM and Saturday, March 16 at 4:00 PM. All performances will be at Mt. Tamalpais United Methodist Church (410 Sycamore Avenue, Mill Valley). The program of classical favorites includes the Overture to The Barber of Seville by Gioachino Rossini; the first movement of Concerto #5 for Piano and Orchestra in Eb, Op. 73 “Emperor” by Ludwig van Beethoven; and Piotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s monumental Symphony $5 in E minor, Op. 64. Renowned Marin County-based pianist Jim Stopher will join MVP as soloist for the Beethoven Concerto.
Now in its 19th season, MVP, which consists of 60 volunteer musicians, presents all of its concerts free of charge. To support these free concerts, and pay for music, rehearsal space, programs, outreach, and everything else necessary to sustain this special organization, MVP relies upon contributions from audience members and local businesses. However, due to the popularity of MVP’s concerts, reservations are strongly suggested. Patrons may reserve tickets and make donations via the MVP website: http://millvalleyphilharmonic.org/concerts.
Additional information is available by contacting MVP at firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling (415) 383-0930.
