Zac Posen shows Fall 2013 collection in SF

From dressing celebrities on the red carpet and the First Lady, to scoring a prestigious spot on the Project Runway judging panel, Zac Posen is one of the hottest names in fashion right now – and it’s easy to see why.

I recently attended the 32nd San Francisco Ballet Auxiliary Fashion Show Luncheon at the Fairmont Hotel last Friday, which featured Posen’s Fall 2013 collection. While attendees sipped wine and lunched on fresh salad and sea bass, glamorous gowns and eveningwear separates in rich jewel tones floated down the runway. The collection celebrates femininity, with elaborate draping and bias cuts softening his signature architectural details.

In particular, an off-the-shoulder ruffled black gown, an intricately embroidered citrine gown and an inky black gown with exaggerated billow sleeves received several gasps and applause from the well-heeled audience of ballet supporters.

After the show, a whirlwind of excitement sent everyone scurrying to Saks Fifth Avenue in Union Square at the promise of seeing all of the runway clothing up close in the trunk show and the chance to meet Mr. Posen himself. While Posen was quite occupied between helping women find gala dresses and chatting with fans, I did manage to snag a quick pic with him, and made some fashionable friends in the process.
