Taste Shapers

78 Marin County is doing an excellent job of seeding its future with farmers, botanists, vintners and, most of all, healthy eaters. The Garden
of Eatin’
(nbcc.net) program at Novato’s North Bay Children’s Center, a USDA-approved curriculum for preschoolers that has served as a model for schools in the rest of the state, is one such resource. But there are also dozens of excellent elementary school gardens, like Edna Maguire’s one-third-acre outdoor education classroom laboratory (ednamaguire.org), which garnered a letter of praise from Al Gore, and the nation’s first organic farming apprenticeship program (marin.edu) at the College of Marin. For every age and educational level, no one can deny we are still pioneers of healthy living.
