Independent Bookstore Day

Prepare yourself for a full day of events like stand up comedy, custom illustrations, wine tasting and more. Sounds like the makings of a fair, doesn’t it? But it’s actually way more than that. The people have spoken and proven their commitment to these pillars of the community, effectively turning California Bookstore Day to Independent Bookstore Day in only it’s second year. Readers and event organizers realize that bookstores offer an abundance of opportunities, from spending an evening peacefully browsing to unlocking a lifelong passion — they have it all.

So come celebrate these important establishments at your favorite one. Book Passage will be doing it up with a relationship advice booth and a workshop run by Anne Lamott in addition to many other special events. If you need any more convincing, think about John Waters’ and Ron Burgundy’s thoughts about book ownership.

The San Francisco State University creative writing graduate went on to write for publications like the San Francisco Bay Guardian and KQED Arts among others prior to joining the Marin Magazine staff. When she’s not busy blogging or researching and writing articles, she’s either at home writing postcards and reading or going to shows.
