The planners of the fifth annual Hawaii Food Festival are busy creating a statewide foodie fantasy lineup. The event is happening August 29 and running through September 13. On the island of Oahu the party extends to Ko Olina as well as to Waikiki hotels including Halekulani and The Modern Honolulu. Here's my wrap-up from last year (scroll to the bottom for a link to this year's event).

The Simon and Garfunkel of the islands, Henry Ka'aihue Kapono and his musical partner Cecilio David Rodriguez created the soundtrack to many locals' biggest moments. You too can experience the music: Kapono plays every Sunday night at Duke's in Waikiki during happy hour.
