I’m going to share a secret with you, are you ready? The most popular stories in our magazine are not the investigative pieces we plan and work on for months, or the human interest community pieces either. Nope, it’s all the stuff about food. Yep, food. Drinks, too, actually. But maybe that comes as no surprise. After all, these are the things we literally need to live and as much as we consume them, they consume us. Daily, we’re bombarded with stylized images of cronuts, acai bowls, macarons, pizza, sushi, bacon-wrapped things on all of our social media feeds, tv, and on magazine covers at grocery store checkouts — ahem. So it’s no wonder that people flock to food festivals and starting Friday, one of the biggest ones in the Bay Area is kicking off.
Now in its eleventh year, Eat Drink SF has become San Francisco’s premiere food and drink festival, with more than 150 restaurants participating in its signature Grand Tasting sessions. With more than 4,000 attendees, the event provides an opportunity for top area chefs to connect directly with enthusiastic food lovers. Guest tickets include all food and beverage tastes from more than 25 different restaurants featured at each Grand Tasting — restaurants change at each session — as well as over 30 bars, distilleries, breweries, and wineries. Two signature Grand Tasting sessions – one afternoon and one evening – will be taking place on Saturday, August 24 at The Midway in San Francisco.
Grab a meal from your favorite food truck or restaurant and enjoy live music this Sunday at Marin Country Mart from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. This Sunday’s entertainment is Mads Tolling & Friends — a Grammy-winning violinist, formerly with Turtle Island and Stanley Clarke, with top Bay Area musicians.
Come out for this fun-filled gathering for guinea pigs and their owners this Saturday at Marin Humane in Novato. Grab some lunch, pack up your guinea pigs, and take part in a: cavy costume contest, vegetable eating contest, raffle, bake sale, health checks, grooming and more. The Bay Area Pignic is for the benefit of Marin Humane guinea pig and small companion animal care.
