This Mother’s Day, entreprenuer Cynthia Batt will be looking forward to flowers and a phone call from her Marin-raised sons back east. One is living in Manhattan and the other is a senior at West Point just assigned to the 101st Airborne and probably going to Afghanistan next spring.
Describe your personal style. Erratic, eclectic and radical conservative.
What are you wearing? Chanel No. 5, Banana Republic black blouse, Armani pencil skirt, yet another pair of red pumps from Bandolino and my favorite gift from
my ex-husband, a strand of pearls.
Who are your fashion influences? My grandmother, who at 103 still pinched her cheeks for color when she walked by a mirror.
Favorite designers? Kindergartners playing with Play-Doh.
Where do you love to shop in Marin? Well, I got my favorite cocktail dress at a secondhand store, Unique Boutique in Tiburon. I shop anywhere and everywhere…you never know when you are going to find something that you can’t live without.
What is always in your bag/pockets? My driver’s license, a house key and a quarter, my mother told me to always be able to call a cab…just in case.
What is your best cheapo secret? Revlon red lipstick and a smile.
What’s your fashion pet peeve? People who are more interested in what I am wearing instead of who I am.
Do you have a favorite spa experience in Marin? My bathroom…because I am in the biz, I receive free products and test them out on myself. Right now my favorite line is SkinCeuticals…a little expensive but the results are unbelievable.
Where do you love to eat in Marin? Lucinda’s for burritos, Milano’s for country Italian and Caprice for romance.
How do you spend your weekends? Sweating.
Where do you go to pamper yourself? My business! I love it! I love the people I work with, all of our clients and going into the city every day! I am one of the luckiest people I know.
How would your friends describe you? Dingbat, but I still love ‘em!
What was the last book you read and why? Freakonomics…I love people who think outside the box.
What was the last movie you saw? Michael Clayton, aka George Clooney…just for the record—anything with George Clooney in it.
If your life were a movie, what would be your theme song? “The Lady Is a Tramp.” I love Frank Sinatra and I love the idea of walking to my own rules.
