Eric Zener of Mill Valley
August marks Eric Zener’s third pool-themed cover for Marin Magazine. A psychology and sociology major at UC Santa Barbara, Zener went on to make his living as a painter and has done so for nearly 20 years. His advice to budding artists is simple: making a “career” out of art is about discipline and strategy. You need to always be an artist when you are creating, but it is a business when you are not. Allow for creative natural flow, but at the same time develop a recognizable style. Lastly, don’t take “rejection” personally. Timing and serendipity are everything. Be persistent and it will all come together.
