Bayhill High School

Richard Branson, Charles Schwab, Steven Spielberg. These men are just a few of the bright creative thinkers who are also dyslexic. When a child has dyslexia, ADHD, or another learning disability, they often feel like a square peg in a round hole. Fitting into a traditional education environment can be frustrating and daunting if the way you think is different from the norm.

Bayhill High School, a small private school in Berkeley celebrates it’s 10th year educating students with learning differences and students who flourish in a small caring community. Our highly trained special education teachers focus on each student’s individual learning style, with the goal of maximizing their inherent strengths and their potential to succeed. Bayhill’s challenging, college preparatory curriculum fosters critical thinking and problem solving skills, while preparing students for college and other post-secondary endeavors.

Bayhill students enjoy a wide range of course offerings, extracurriculars, and school events. Our extensive visual arts program allows students to explore talents in art, photography and digital media. Students participate in clubs like Student Council, Poetry & Creative Writing, and the national organization Junior State of America. Bayhill takes advantage of the many opportunities in the Bay Area to learn through hands-on exploration and real world experience. The area’s many museums, universities, and natural wonders are our extended classrooms where students learn in a variety of modalities.

Bayhill graduates have successfully matriculated to two and four year colleges such as University of Puget Sound, Southern Oregon University, and the California State Universities. Bayhill alumni have proven time and again that students with learning differences have much to offer the world. When given the right instruction and a positive, caring environment, Bayhill students thrive.
