Finding a good doctor is always a challenge, one that can be even more stressful when confronted with a serious need for one. Our special section on 2010’s Best Doctors for Marin and San Francisco will make your search easier. Compiled by Best Doctors, Inc. specifically for Marin Magazine, the list contains hundreds of local physicians of all specialties recommended by their peers.

Our features this month begin with Marin Views, a gallery of images celebrating the beauty of Marin by local photographer Tim Porter (and our editor-at-large). He is also responsible for “Winter Trees,” the photograph that graces our cover this month and a stunning representation of the Marin landscape during this time of the year.

Equally beautiful are photojournalist Alissa Everett’s images in Journey, which tells her story of traveling to Hungary in search of her family roots and finding, in an ancient walled city, the “footsteps of her ancestors.”

Tiburon residents Peter Marguglio and Linda Trocki have put down roots in two places—here in Marin and in their Tahoe getaway, a magnificent lodge-style house near Truckee. In Home, P. J. Bremier takes us on a tour.

We offer a bit of February homage to all things Valentine, including a Marinterview with local matchmaker Pari Livermore, “Love Lessons” from married couples and a guide to love seats (FYI Home Decor).

Also in this issue, Conversation talks with Lee Domanico, the chief executive of the Marin Healthcare District and the man who will soon be managing Marin General Hospital; What’s It Like tells the tale of a Golden Gate Bridge toll-taker; GO provides relaxation tips from spa insiders; and Microclimate profiles the coveted community of Belvedere.

As always, our wish is for your good reading. Enjoy Marin Magazine, as we continue to celebrate this extraordinary place!
